JohnofGB "A pipeline makes so much more sense than moving crude by rail. A pipeline is "greener" than using a locomotive."

That may be true once the pipeline is built. But it takes energy and emissions to build it.

"Building a pipeline parallel to present ones does farmers no harm, just richer."

Tell that to the landowners who have suffered leaks from other pipelines.

Find landowners nearby that are willing to sell property rights for the pipeline. Eminent domain isn't about using courts to force a sale so a corporation can save construction costs.

never cared for this eminent domain crap. especially when being pushed by a foreign country. nothing against our canadian neighbors, but this is just wrong. good to see the landowner is making a stand.

How would you like them to take your property in the name of "oil"? Large corporation can take anything they wish and family farms are having a hard time already. Better think where your food comes from.....not just the grocery store.

Big Oil has too much power. A multinational company using eminent domain to condemn US citizen's property for a business venture is BS.

I'm sure the people who want this pipe dream built -- would feel differently if plans were to have it flow through their property or neighborhoods!

When the global players want a piece of land in the US shouldn't they get it? After all this is a global economy. They only want to make a few dollars MORE. It costs to business in DC.

Good no Canadaian firm should have the right to seize and use Texas Land without the consent and full market price payment to the owner of the land.

The company had a lot of balls to proceed with construction especially since this is not the only suit filed.
