It has already happened. All unnecessary trips are gone. Several chores are concentrated in one trip. Have been doing that for several years now.

I started a few years back. I started consolodating trips, keep quick starts and stops to a limit, and i maintain my vehicle on a regular basis. So it probably wouldnt matter much.

I think $5.00 and higher for a gallon of regular gas would be pushing the limit, but I live in the Mid West!

That happened at $3 a gallon, I remember when you could fill a tank for under $5. As long as people don't make a change, it will continue to go up. We'll be spending more for gas than for groceries eventually.

When I am going to do an errand over town I try to check out which station offers the best price and hope by the time I get there the price isn't changed. I wont make a sole trip to a station tough; fill-up is combined with a needed trip across town.

Fuel shouldn't cost more than half of a $300-$400 car payment.

Ontario prices have been rapidly on the rise for fuel and this senior lady has made significant changes to her will I drive or not. The high prices have definitely brought a new level of awareness that is causing me to get involved here on the gas buddy site to help with other gas buddies, banding together walking more, driving less campaign .. the fuel pricing will be impacted by our combined effort to effect positive change with the market pricing index.
HAPPY EASTER BLESSINGS to all GAS BUDDIES out there.

If I have a 15 gallon tank and the price increases by $1, then filling up costs me an additional $15. If I fill up weekly, this is an additional $60 out of pocket every month for the very same amount from a year earlier. Since we are totally dependent on gas, I have to pay it. If I eat out once less per month, then my monthly expenses stay the same.

We rarely go anywhere and we carpool more. We also have gotten to where what can be ordered and sent through the mail will be. Rather than drive we try to use any other means of getting something somewhere as we can find. We have changed significantly already. If it goes any higher I am going to invest in a horse and ride it around where possible.

A major concern is that representatives of the current administration have made comments of the nature that: the ideal cost per gallon for retail gas would be in the $8-$10 range, because that would drive public demand for alternative energy solutions. I agree, and frankly I'm an alternative energy advocate, but this is the absolute most "brute force" method for getting us to the future. I suspect that prices in this range would do far more harm than good - but it'd be a great excuse for a control-driven government to create and fund (out of what...?) a "Fuel-Coupon" program for the lower classes and disadvantaged... Hmmmm...

My driving habits have already changed. Have an economy car and a 7 passenger vehicle. I only drive the larger vehicle when 5 or more people going. I also live 20 minutes from the closest grocery store. MY choice but I plan very carefully when going to store

Since gas prices are increasing instead of decreasing, I've started utilizing our Railrunner shuttle to and from work but off course, I drive about 40miles to work so its starting to help me with saving $$$ and its not too bad since the shuttle gets me here in less then 45mins, plus less wear and tear on my car. :)

When it hits $4 a gallon, I'll change to a motorcycle for my work commute of 70 miles daily. Not very safe, but what else can be done? Ya gotta work.

After reading the various postings, it is very clear, that most of Us do NOT know or understand the mechanics of Capitalism and gasoline pricing. We import more petroleum products from Canada than any other Country. We are the ones responsible for the sharp, rapid increases, by accepting what the various News Media and Government Employees are telling us, no questions asked!

current gas prices are the only good thing about having old classic v8's that don't run!,of course if we just out lawed speculating on oil prices for starters, prices would drop enough to at least fix if not fill the tank of those old v8's!!!!

The government energy chief Mr. Chu stated the strategy was to get prices to go up to $8 a gallon. This is obviously to force the public to embrace alternatives against our will.

Its not just the thirty percent increase in gas since Jan first. Tack on thirty percent to your utilities, other fuel, and food too. It is mind boggling that the media says the economy is better. I am making what I made twenty years ago paying 2012 prices at the pump and grocery store.
