one may not, but many do. In today's world that would be called a flash mob.

This one keeps going around, year after year. I know one guy who is quite pleased with himself by not buying gas on Thursdays and that he is doing useful battle with the oil giants. Let him have his happiness. He also believes there is a "they" committee somewhere setting prices as they please as well as controlling every other aspect of our lives. It makes him and people like him happy. So let 'em.

danny: try again. There are very few wholesale companies left and those who are sell to many brands of gas stations.

Danny1460 Correct, and in doing so, it generates pressure on the brand and lets them know that they can be affected negatively, like they have been doing to the gasoline consumer. Exact pressure is just what we need!

bs if you and other quit buying from that company.. The company has to drop prices/export or wholesale to other station.. Their payroll and rent goes on wether the sell or not!

Not the problem to trade oil crops after stepping out on costs.

For People complaining that this is old news, keep in mind that this is the original article, that you keep going back to and RE-READING! It not the fault of the article.
Many complain, however when it comes to action, they complain about any proposed action! Naysayers; always hoping something will be done, however not willing to participate. AMERICA was born of social and political resistance; 16 Dec 1773, many a Bostonian were probably wanting a nice warm tea; however many a bundle of tea was now in the custody of Davy Jones at the bottom of Boston Harbor. Think outside of the box, think what you can do personally to get under the skin of the oil conglomerates. Nothing illegal, NO VIOLENCE. Think outside of the box, utilize those strong minds that purport actions. Targeted response; only one chain, do not tell them the duration (keep them off balance)(utilize twitter to change the target). Target one conglomerate and one only (pick the largest). IE. Target EXXON/ESSO Disrupts their refining, the logistics of re-supplying their brand stations; Disrupts their financial side, as they may have to supply refined fuels to their over utilized competitors, with refined product at wholesale prices. Their own fleets may have to supply competitors. Piss off value is massive; imagine EXXON/ESSO chagrin, upon seeing they are making no profit and they are having to help their competitors; this will teach the industry a valuable lesson. Even if the odd person does purchase fuel in small markets from the only brand in their area; overall it will not hurt the effect of targeting only one. Get on board, don't whine, think, think, think outside of the box.

Gas boycotts are not only ineffective but even if they could be made to work the result would be a situation that does not favor fuel consumers. Anytime you introduce inefficiencies into a consumer oriented system the final product will always cost more.

I said the same thing to people every time this circulates. You can't fix stupid though. With all the people playing the mindless clicking games you can't expect them to not mindlessly click share on everything they see too. Social Media is worse than the email spam of years back.

Will not work. Gas companies do not care what day you buy gas, it could be yesterday today or tomorrow they know that if you need gas you will buy.. Now maybe if you boycott one brand it work for awhile..

No gas boycott will work unless one can reduce consumption by half for at least a month.
And even then it will not be effective unless consumption rises when/if prices fall.
Prices will not fall unless consumers demonstrate much greater price sensitivity than just complaining on gas price web blogs.

The boycott won’t work because the usage/ demand doesn’t change. You only delay the purchase by a day. Meaningless
